Motte (FSU), Hildebrand (MSU), Phillips (MTU) named Mike Richter Award nominees

Let’s Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation announced today the nominees for the 2015 Mike Richter Award, which for the second season will be given to the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men’s hockey.

Last year, Commerce native Connor Hellebuyck won the first-ever Mike Richter Award after an impressive sophomore season that saw him record a 18-9-2 record, 1.79 goals-against average and 0.941 save percentage in 29 games. He signed with the Winnipeg Jets at the conclusion of the season.
This season, one Michigan native was nominated, while two other Michigan residents made the list:

CJ Motte (St. Clair, Mich.) – Ferris State – Senior

Season statistics: 14-18-1 record, 2.26 goals-against, .917 save percentage

Jake Hildebrand – Michigan State – Junior

Season statistics: 13-14-2 record, 2.25 goals-against, .925 save percentage, 4 shutouts

Jamie Phillips – Michigan Tech – Junior

Season statistics: 23-6-1 record, 1.76 goals-against, .934 save percentage
