The Wings lost a close one to the Avalanche last night, ending their winning streak. Ryan O’Reilly’s two goals helped power Colorado to a 4-2 win. Johan Franzen and Dan Cleary scored for the Wings, while Ty Conklin made 26 saves. The loss stops Detroit’s streak of seven straight wins.

Valtteri Filppula was injured late in the first period, and the Wings’ Bill Roose reported that he was cut by a skate blade above his own skate during a scramble along the boards, and was taken to a Denver hospital.
