Jack Olmstead is in Pennsylvania at the moment, but he will be coming home to Michigan soon.

The Troy native, a forward with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the NAHL, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Michigan.

“It means everything – I grew up a die hard fan, going to the Wolverines’ games at Yost, going to the Great Lakes Invitational down at The Joe, cheering for the football team,” Olmstead told MiHockey. “It’s really hard to put into words the feeling…really it’s just a dream come true.”

This year, Olmstead has 25 points in his first 23 games with the Knights – his first full season in the NAHL.

Well-versed in the energy from the Children of Yost and the rest of the fans at Yost, the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Little Caesars alum can’t wait for the opportunity to suit up for the Maize and Blue.

“The atmosphere at Yost is always awesome, I absolutely love it,” Olmstead said. “Everything about the UM hockey program is top-notch – coaches, players, trainers, Coach Maher (the strength coach), just everything. The moment I stepped onto the campus in Ann Arbor, I knew it was special and the place for me.”
