Ready for some sled hockey?

The Griffins are.

The AHL club just announced details for the team’s 13th annual sled hockey game – presented by Meijer – against the Grand Rapids Sled Wings.

Puck drops at 6:30 p.m. inside Griff’s IceHouse on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for the game, which features the Detroit Red Wings’ affiliate taking on the junior Sled Wings – a group of children and teens who won’t let a disability keep them from playing hockey.

The Sled Wings team is sponsored by the Griffins Youth Foundation in partnership with the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Formed in 2001, they were the first junior-level sled team in Michigan, and they have developed five players for U.S. National Teams since.

The Sled Wings captured their first Division A National Championship in April 2015.

Tickets can be purchased at the door – $5 per person or $20 per family. All proceeds will benefit the Sled Wings program and the Griffins Youth Foundation.
