Two Huskies and a Wildcat claim WCHA stars of week

By @MichaelCaples –

The WCHA has announced the conference’s first ‘players of the week’ list, and three Michigan boys have been honored for outstanding weekends.

The offensive player of the week selection goes to Robbie Payne, after the Gaylord native and Northern Michigan forward posted back-to-back two-goal games.

Payne led the WCHA in scoring and plus/minus with a +3.

Defensive player of the week accolades go to Michigan Tech blueliner and St. Clair Shores native Mark Auk. The senior MTU defenseman posted four points – two goals and two helpers – during Michigan Tech’s run to the Ice Breaker title.

Auk’s new teammate Justin Misiak earned the rookie of the week selection; a Tech freshman and St. Clair Shores native, Misiak recorded the game-winning goal in the Ice Breaker Tournament championship game.
