Just a few hours before their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Red Wings announced a series of roster cuts to their preseason roster.

The Wings have assigned forward Zach Nastasiuk, defenseman Dan Renouf and goaltender Matej Machovsky to Grand Rapids.

They have also released forwards Mike Borkowski, Austen Brassard, Connor Crisp, Luke Esposito and Dominik Shine, defensemen Simon Denis, Pat McCarron and Kevin Tansey, and goaltender Pat Nagle from professional tryout contracts.

Shine and Nagle, the two Michigan names on that list, both signed with Grand Rapids in the offseason, which means they will also be reporting to GR.

Detroit’s roster now contains 48 players.
