PHOTOS: Ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off “Preview Week” at Little Caesars Arena

Little Caesars Arena is officially open. With a ribbon-cutting ceremony today in the Chevrolet Plaza, the Ilitch family and other dignitaries officially opened the doors to the new building, which will be the home of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons. Tom Gores, governor Rick Snyder, Detroit mayor Mike Duggan and city council president Brenda Jones all followed Chris Ilitch’s opening speech, while John Perkins – a Detroit resident who used the construction project as a springboard into a new career – and poet Sekou Andrews also helped celebrate the official opening.

Attendees were allowed to see portions of the street-level concourse after the event, as well; check out those photos in MiHockey’s gallery, as well. (Photos by Michael Caples/MiHockey)
