The Red Wings have retained Martin Frk for the 2017-18 season.

Frk, 23, has signed a two-way contract for the upcoming campaign.

The Wings’ former second-round pick was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes last year before being reclaimed by the Wings roughly one month later.

His short time in Carolina was the only time Frk has seen NHL action; he played in two games with the Hurricanes.

During his four professional seasons, he has played primarily with the Grand Rapids Griffins (with some stints in Toledo). He posted 15 points in 16 games with the Griffins during their march to the AHL title this past spring.
