When Wyatt Bongiovanni is done in Muskegon, he will be heading out to Hamden, Connecticut.

The Birmingham native and soon-to-be Muskegon Lumberjacks forward announced this week that he has committed to Quinnipiac University for his college hockey career.

“When I visited Quinnipiac, I immediately felt comfortable in the setting,” Bongiovanni told MiHockey. “I loved the culture, the superior facilities, and the admirable staff. I strongly believe it is a place where a player gets better. I look forward to playing an impactful role.”

Bongiovanni is entering his third USHL season; he spent the 2015-16 season with Des Moines and the 2016-17 campaign with Tri-City. His home state USHL program acquired the Little Caesars, Belle Tire and Honeybaked alum via trade this summer, which means he will be suiting up in Muskegon when the puck drops on the Lumberjacks’ 2017-18 season.

In 2018-19, he will begin play in the ECAC with the Bobcats.

“I’m excited to take the next step in my career and test myself at the next level,” Bongiovanni said. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be a student-athlete and play in front of fellow classmates.”
