Dylan Wendt will be heading to Wisconsin for juniors, but when he’s done, he’s coming back to Michigan.

The Grand Haven native just announced his commitment to the University of Michigan, securing his spot in a NCAA Division 1 line-up after his time with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers concludes.

“Michigan has always been a dream school of mine; growing up my favorite college team was always Michigan so it was a no-brainer for me when they offered,” Wendt told MiHockey. “It’s hard to explain how I feel because it just all feels just like a dream to me at this moment.”

A Total Package Hockey Center of Excellence student-athlete, Wendt has spent the last two seasons with Belle Tire. Per his Elite Prospects page, he posted 31 points in 30 games with the BT 16U team this past season.

“I am extremely thankful and blessed for everyone who has been part of this great journey for me so far,” Wendt said. “Playing college hockey is just an amazing experience, and getting the education while playing the sport I love, nothing can compare to that.”

The 2001 birth-year player will be competing for Team USA at the upcoming Five Nations Tournament, as well.

Wendt was a third-round pick of the Gamblers in this spring’s USHL Draft, as well as a fifth-round pick of the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL Draft.

He posted eight points in four games for the TPH team at the OHL Cup in March.

“Being able to play hockey and get an education at one of the best schools in the country is an honor,” he said.
