With their last pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Red Wings went with a player placing close to Hockeytown.

The Wings selected Brady Gilmour, a forward with the Saginaw Spirit, with the 193rd pick in the draft Saturday in Chicago.

A 5-foot-10, 170-pound forward, Gilmour has spent the last two seasons in Saginaw. In 2016-17, he recorded 47 points in 65 games.

He will be in good hands in Saginaw; Red Wings fixtures Jimmy Devellano and Chris Osgood are part of the ownership group of the OHL franchise.

The Spirit already have a Red Wings prospect, as well, in Filip Hronek.
