Brighton native Logan Cockerill has a new team to get to know.

The NTDP Under-18 Team forward was selected by the New York Islanders in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft Saturday in Chicago.

Cockerill, heading to Boston University in the fall, played for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Belle Tire in bantams and midgets before making the jump to the NTDP.

He recorded 24 points in 34 points in 59 games with the NTDP this past season.
