The Saginaw Spirit just announced that they will be adding another Michigan native to their roster.

Caleb Everett, fresh off winning a national title with Compuware, will be signing with the club on Tuesday. The Pleasant Lake native was a sixth-round pick in 2016 by the OHL franchise.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the Spirit next season,” Everett told MiHockey. “I like to win and I believe we can achieve great things. I want to step in and make good things happen for the team.”

Everett played a substantial role in the blue line for Compuware 16U as they won both state and national titles this spring. The Compuware and Honeybaked alum is a student-athlete at the Total Package Hockey Center of Excellence in Canton, as well.

“TPH has supported me through my hockey career, the good and bad times,” Everett said. “I’m glad I went to TPH and got the training and life lessons that I needed. Coach Naurato always says, ‘If you don’t like it, get better.’ I think he always pushes us to get out of our comfort zone on the ice. It’s a good feeling to fail at a certain skill and as the year goes by, you begin to notice that you’ve mastered that skill. I think TPH has prepared me to step in for Saginaw and I’m excited to continue my career in the OHL.”

A 2016 second-round pick of the Muskegon Lumberjacks, he appeared in two games with the USHL club last season.
