Michigan’s highest OHL pick has signed with the franchise that selected him No. 2 overall in this year’s Priority Selection.

Tag Bertuzzi is officially on his way to Guelph, Ontario – the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies forward signed with the Storm today.

“We are thrilled to add Tag to our program,” said Storm general manager and head coach George Burnett in a release. “Tag brings an excellent combination of size, skating, skill and hockey intelligence to our group. He immediately compliments our strong core of young players and will be a key member of out team moving forward.”

Bertuzzi is certainly familiar with the Storm; his father, Red Wings alum Todd Bertuzzi, was the first-ever OHL Priority Selection pick by the Guelph franchise. Tag’s cousin, Grand Rapids Griffins forward and Red Wings prospect Tyler Bertuzzi, also played for the Storm.

“I would like to thank the ownership, coaching staff, management, scouting staff and fans of the Guelph Storm,” Tag Bertuzzi said in the release. “I am humble and grateful for this opportunity to be able to put the Storm sweater on. This is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling that I am looking forward to taking advantage of. I have a lot to work on in the summer and with this challenge, I will work my hardest to earn a spot on the Guelph Storm roster.”

As a captain of his OJG 16U team this year, Bertuzzi posted 50 points in 49 games.
