The Detroit Red Wings are bringing in another Michigan native – this time on the coaching staff.

The Original Six franchise just announced that they have hired Adam Nightingale as an assistant coach/video.

A native of Cheboygan, Nightingale played two seasons for Lake Superior State and two seasons for Michigan State before a four-year ECHL professional career with the Gwinnett Gladiators, Greenville Grrrowl and Charlotte Checkers.

Nightingale was working for the Buffalo Sabres as a video coach; prior to joining that NHL franchise, he was a head coach at Shattuck-St. Mary’s.

He previously spent four seasons with the MSU hockey program and the team’s director of operations.

Nightingale is currently working as the video coordinator for the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2017 IIHF Men’s World Championship.
