Griffins take early series lead with Game 1 victory over Chicago

The Griffins struck first.

In Game 1 of their second-round series with the Chicago Wolves, Grand Rapids recorded a 4-1 victory on the road Wednesday night.

Martin Frk, Matthew Ford, Tomas Nosek and Ben Street all scored for the Griffins in the series-opening win, while Jared Coreau stopped 27 of the 28 shots sent his way.

The series continues in Chicago; Game 2 is set for Friday night. The next night, the two teams will do battle in Grand Rapids for a Game 3 Saturday night showdown at Van Andel Arena.
