On Saturday, the Red Wings will be helping celebrate NHL Green Week by holding a collection drive outside The Joe for new or gently-used hockey equipment.

The Wings will be donating the gear to youth hockey programs at Jack Adams Memorial Arena in Detroit.

A regulation-sized hockey net featuring green goal posts will serve as the drop-box for hockey gear at street level of the Joe Louis Arena People Mover Station.

Hockey equipment being accepted includes helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin pads, gloves, skates and sticks, in addition to goalie gear.

During the game, the Wings will have in-game elements highlighting NHL Green Week initiatives and encouragement for fans to improve their environmental footprint.
