Add Logan Gestro to the list of success stories coming out of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Gestro, a South Lyon native and Corpus Christi IceRays defenseman, participated in the annual showcase in Plymouth last week, and now, he’s committed to Canisius College.

“It’s amazing, and I’m very grateful,” said Gestro via the NAHL. “It’s especially exciting because I thought I’d be playing Division III next year going into the 2017 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. All of a sudden, I had a few options. It was kind of overwhelming and happened so quickly.”

The Victory Honda and Honeybaked alum earned a spot on the IceRays’ blue line by trying out before the 2014-15 season. He posted 25 points in 54 games as an NAHL rookie before earning a spot with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL in 2015-16.

This year, he’s back with the IceRays, and impressing once again. The 21-year-old has 11 points with a +9 rating – an 11-point rating improvement from his last stint with Corpus Christi.

“I’ll remember all of the little things,” Gestro said. “Staying on the ice after practice, getting better, taking the ice time we have now to better myself for the future. I played with two teams and three different coaches, so I got to take a piece from everyone’s minds and learn something different from everyone. I’ve also had three different groups of guys. Each team was a close group, but this team is exceptionally close, and we possibly have something really special here. The memories in Corpus Christi are going to last a lifetime.”
