It’s been quite a season for Canton native Charles Williams.

And now he’s moving on to the professional ranks.

Following a career season with Canisius College, 25-year-old netminder signed a standard player contract with the ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs, affiliate to the AHL’s Ontario Reign and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings.

Williams wrapped up his senior season with Canisius after spending the past three years at Ferris State. He finished the 2016-17 campaign with a sparkling 1.82 goals-against average, .943 save percentage, six shutouts and 21-7-5 record. The Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year and All-AHC First Team selection, Williams led the NCAA in save percentage and shutouts and ranks third in goals-against average.

Williams, who played his youth hockey with the likes of the Canton Crush, Honeybaked, Compuware and Little Caesars, was named a Mike Richter Award semifinalist and top-ten Hobey Baker Award finalist for his efforts.
