Livonia native Jonathan McDonald knows what the next step of his hockey career will be.

The Fargo Force defenseman announced his commitment to UMass-Lowell today, securing a spot with a D1 college hockey program.

“I chose Lowell because of the culture they are building,” McDonald said, via the USHL. “It’s been a dream of mine to play on the east coast ever since I was a kid and this is the opportunity I have always wanted.”

In his first season with the Force, McDonald, a ’98 birth-year player, has recorded three assists and a +2 rating in 23 games.

He spent the last two seasons with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies AAA program.
