Brother Rice, U of D Jesuit continuing Ice Bucket Challenge tradition, raise $9,000 for battle against ALS

In the spring of 2015, the Brother Rice and U of D Jesuit hockey programs got in on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in a big way, joining together at center ice after their game to take turns dumping water on each other. It was a remarkable moment, as both teams – just moments after their on-ice battles had concluded – did something meaningful right after the postgame handshake. Both teams had been impacted by ALS; it started in honor of Brother Rice alum and U of D hockey parent Paul Apap.

While the Ice Bucket Challenge craze has died down, the two teams have continued their push to raise awareness and research funds. On Friday, they did it again, pouring freezing cold water on each other after the game (one that Brother Rice won 8-0, by the way). They raised roughly $9,000 in the process.

Way to go guys. Keep it going.
