Notre Dame just landed a big-name goaltender for their first season with the Big Ten.

Northville native Dylan St. Cyr, currently a goaltender for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program Under-18 Team in Plymouth, is now committed to the Fighting Irish for the 2017-18 season.

St. Cyr, son of famed goaltender Manon Rheaume, was previously committed to the University of Michigan.

The NTDP netminder – a product of the Honeybaked AAA organization – told MiHockey he liked what Notre Dame had to offer on and off the ice.

“I’m extremely excited to commit to play hockey at the University of Notre Dame,” St. Cyr said. “The balance between hockey and life after hockey is important to me, and I feel Notre Dame is the right place for me to further grow both my hockey career and my education. I really do believe it was a 50-year decision.”

The Fighting Irish will be joining the Big Ten Hockey Conference for the start of the 2017-18 season; the same year in which St. Cyr enrolls.
