Brody Stevens may be playing in Packers Country right now, but soon, he will be back in his home state.

The Ann Arbor native and forward with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers announced this week that he has verbally committed to the Michigan State Spartans.

Stevens, a Compuware and Victory Honda alum, said he’s excited for the chance to play for an in-state program like MSU.

“I’m Michigan born and raised, and I’ve always wanted to play for a team close to home,” Stevens told MiHockey. “I’m so excited about the opportunity to play for Michigan State because it encompasses everything I value in a hockey team.”

Stevens is in the midst of his third USHL season, though he’s been skating in the league even longer. He was a reserve member of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in 2013-14 before full-time USHL duty with the Fargo Force in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

This year, his first in Green Bay, he has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 35 games – along with 105 penalty minutes.

He said he’s excited to get to East Lansing next season.

“It’s an outstanding program with a lot of great hockey history, it’s an awesome school atmosphere, and I’ll be playing with a good group of guys that I know and respect a lot. It’s always been a dream of mine to play college hockey and I couldn’t be more excited to live it out as a Spartan.”
