The candidates for the 2016-17 edition of the Senior CLASS Award were announced today, and four players with Michigan ties have been nominated.

The Senior CLASS Award is annually presented to an outstanding senior student-athlete with notable achievements in the four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Two Michigan natives were selected for the group of 15 candidates, while one NTDP alum and one Michigan resident were also chosen:

Chad McDonald – Battle Creek – Ferris State

Nick Schilkey – Marysville – Ohio State

Will Butcher – NTDP alum – Denver

Brock Maschmeyer – Northern Michigan
