His name’s been popping up a lot recently, so it comes as no surprise that Michigan Tech goalie Angus Redmond just received quite an honor from his college hockey conference.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Redmond its rookie of the month for November, it was announced today.

Redmond, a native of Langley, British Columbia, claimed the starting spot for the Huskies in the last series of October, and dominated in November. He played in all eight of MTU’s games, and backstopped his club to an NCAA-best six wins and .812 winning percentage – good for third nationally.

Redmond ranked second in the WCHA and sixth nationally – and first among rookies – with a 1.48 goals-against average over the month. He has allowed only 12 goals in his 485:59 worth of crease time, while posting 156 saves and a .929 save percentage.
