Derek Schaedig took full of advantage of a call-up to the USHL this past week.

The Chelsea native was called up to the Lincoln Stars from the Janesville Jets (NAHL) to fill in while the Stars’ starting goaltender was playing for Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge.

Schaedig, a Chelsea High School product, won both of the games he played in, posting 31 saves on Friday and 26 more on Saturday. That’s good for a weekend outing that finished with a 1.48 goals-against average and .950 save percentage.

His performance earned him co-USHL goaltender of the week honors; Schaedig is sharing with Mikhail Berdin of the Sioux Falls Stampede.

He now holds a 4-0-0-0 record in his first four full USHL games after previous call-ups.

In Janesville, Schaedig currently holds a 3.08 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 16 appearances.
