The West Michigan area hockey community needs support from the entire hockey world for one of its officials.

Whether he is coaching or wearing stripes, Dave Rue is most known for mentoring young hockey players and referees. Now, the Western Michigan alumnus is battling lung cancer and the community is hoping to raise $30-40,000 to help with medical and financial needs.

Rue played for the Broncos in the CCHA from 1980-83.

Self-employed when away from the rink, Rue was forced to give up his construction business to undergo chemotherapy.

The community has provided a trio of ways you can help support Rue in his battle.
