The Detroit Red Wings announced a series of roster moves Wednesday morning and one of them bodes particularly well for the team.

Jimmy Howard was removed from injured reserve, signaling his return to the crease in the near future.

Howard sports a 1.82 goals against average and .940 save percentage on the season and was lights-out for Detroit before going down. Petr Mrazek filled in admirably in his absence, posting a 3-1-1 record and .930 save percentage in five starts.

Tomas Nosek and Northern Michigan alum Jared Coreau were assigned to Grand Rapids.

The Red Wings host rookie sensation Zach Werenski (Grosse Pointe; University of Michigan) and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
