The West Michigan Special Hockey Association will be receiving a healthy boost for its program, and the general public can help out, too.

On Nov. 21, the WMSHA was named one of three associations to take part in SpartanNash’s Kraft Hockeyville this February. Each year, SpartanNash partners with Kraft Heinz to support local hockey organizations.

Between Feb. 5-28, for every dollar spent at a SpartanNash store (Family Fare Supermarket, D&W Fresh Market, VG’s Grocery, Valu Land, and Forest Hills Foods), Kraft Heinz will donate 10 cents to the WMSHA.

Additionally, SpartanNash will donate $5,000 to the WMSHA to help with rink improvements, jerseys and other hockey-related efforts.

The WMSHA’s mission is to offer an amateur level ice hockey program for children and young adults with Down syndrome, Autism or any other developmental disability. WMSHA is open to any player over the age of five, male or female, who is physically able to play, but would be unable to participate in any other organized program due to his or her developmental disability.
