The jerseys will be available for purchase starting on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Hockeytown Authentics and during the Wings’ home game against Montreal on Nov. 26.

According to the team’s announcement, the uniforms pay tribute to the beginnings of the Original Six franchise and the NHL’s 100th anniversary season. The silver used throughout the jersey is in recognition of the NHL’s milestone season, while the silver stripe found on both sleeves honors the 11 Stanley Cup championships for the Wings. The years marking the Wings’ titles are on each sleeve. Five are on the right sleeve – 1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952 – and six are on the left sleeve – 1954, 1955, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008.

The four red stripes on the sleeves are a tribute to the original Detroit Cougars.

Detroit’s pants will feature a version of the letter “D” similar to the design worn by the Cougars during the team’s 1926-27 season.
