Little Caesars product Patrick Guzzo will be staying close to home for his college hockey career.

The 2001 birth-year forward verbally committed to Michigan over the weekend.

“I chose Michigan because their hockey program is rich in tradition,” he told MiHockey. “Academically, it is one of the best schools in the nation if not the best.”

Guzzo, a Marysville native, is already listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. He has recorded five points in five High Performance Hockey League games with the Little Caesars midget minor club so far this season.

“Any Michigan kid growing up playing hockey dreams of one day playing for the University of Michigan, I’m very fortunate that I’ve been given the opportunity,” Guzzo said.
