When you return from representing your country and immediately post four points in two games, your league takes notice.

Lumberjacks forward Andrei Svechnikov returned to Muskegon in time for his team’s home games against Cedar Rapids and Madison this weekend, and he posted two goals and two assists in his homecoming effort.

In Muskegon’s Saturday win against the RoughRiders, Svechnikov – a native of Barnaul, Russia – scored the game-tying goal in the third period, playing a crucial role in the team’s come-from-behind win.

The next day, Svechnikov and the Lumberjacks continued the trend, completing a three-goal third-period comeback before Svechnikov scored the game-winning goal in overtime (after adding two assists in regulation).

For the effort, he was named the USHL’s forward of the week today.

Svechnikov recorded five goals and three assists in just four games with Russia during the U17 World Challenge earlier in the month.

He has five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 11 games with Muskegon this season.

Meanwhile, Lumberjacks defenseman Bo Hanson was named blueliner of the week by the USHL.

The Muskegon captain – a native of Boise, Idaho – posted one goal and four assists in the two victories over the weekend.

Hanson logged one goal and two assists against Cedar Rapids, and then two more assists against Madison.

He has two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 16 games this season, along with an impressive +11 rating.
