Michigan-born players almost had a clean sweep of the NAHL stars of the week list today.

Players hailing from the Mitten State garnered three of the four divisional stars of the week awards, the NAHL announced today.

Justin Misiak was named the Central Division Star of the Week, Jackson Hartje the East Division Star of the Week and Kieran Durgan the South Division Star of the Week.

Misiak, a native of St. Clair Shores, racked up four points in three games during the week for his Austin Bruins club. He is second in team scoring with 18 points in 22 games.

“Justin has been a consistent hard-working, character player for our team the past week,” said Bruins head coach Kyle Grabowski. “His overall play has been a tremendous asset to us in a stretch of crucial games.”

Hartje, a native of Detroit, recorded six points in two games with his Northeast Generals squad. He scored two goals in an overtime loss on Friday, then he scored two goals and added two assists in a 8-7 overtime loss the next night.

“Jake is a veteran players who has been outstanding since joining us,” said Northeast head coach Bryan Erikson.” He is a great kid in and out of the locker room and has the full respect of the players and coaching staff.  His success is a direct result of the hard work he puts in every day.”

Durgan, a native of St. John’s, posted six points and a plus-four rating in two games with the Shreveport Mudbugs. He scored the game-winner for his club on Saturday, and he has 16 points on the season.

“Kieran is a very competitive, hard-skating forward who sees the ice well and goes to the hard areas of the rink,” said Mudbugs head coach Karlis Zirnis. “Most importantly, he is a diligent person whose leadership on and off the ice has helped lay the foundation of our culture here in Shreveport.”
