Lake Superior’s red-hot start to the 2016-17 campaign is bringing in some conference monthly honors for one of the Lakers’ leaders.

Sophomore forward Mitch Hults was named the WCHA’s player of the month today, after the Stoughton, Wis., native started the season off with a bang.

Hults logged four goals and seven assists in six contests during the month of October, playing a significant role in the Lakers’ NCAA-best 5.00 goals per game average.

The second-year forward is tied for the WCHA lead with his 11 points, and tied for fifth nationally.

Hults recorded at least one point in each of LSSU’s first six games – three of them being multi-point efforts – as the Lakers played to a 5-1-0 start.
