Grand Rapids’ Matt Lorito had a big week in the AHL, and the league took notice.

The Griffins’ forward was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 20.

Lorito posted two goals and four assists as the Griffins split a two-game home set against the Texas Stars.

The Red Wings’ prospect – he signed as a free agent on July 1, 2016 after an AHL rookie season where he posted 54 points in 71 games with Albany – is tied for fifth in AHL scoring with 16 points on the season.

On Wednesday, he posted a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win, then matched the scoring output in Friday’s 4-3 loss.

HE was the first Griffin to record consecutive three-point nights since Martin Frk accomplished the feat on Dec. 19 and 26 last season.
