WATCH: Tyler Motte scores his first NHL goal

With his former Wolverines teammate Zach Werenski on the opposing roster, Tyler Motte found the back of an NHL net for the first time.

Motte, a St. Clair native and product of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program and the University of Michigan, scored the first goal of the game between his Chicago Blackhawks and the Columbus Blue Jackets, burying a rebound to tie the game at 1-1.

Ironically, Werenski had scored the game’s first marker, meaning that for the first 24:36 of the contest, the only two players on the scoresheet were Michigan natives, NTDP/Wolverines alums and fellow NHL rookies.
