Reid Sturos is now a trivia answer for college hockey die-hards.

The Michigan Tech forward scored the first regular-season, double-overtime game-winner in WCHA history.

Sturos scored in the WCHA’s first-ever three-on-three overtime Saturday night, breaking a 1-1 tie with Alabama Huntsville in the new tiebreaker format for the WCHA.

A native of Brighton, Sturos – now a four-time WCHA weekly award winner – also scored in the Huskies’ 7-3 series opening win against UAH on Friday.

LSSU’s Headrick co-defensive player of week

Lake Superior State’s Owen Headrick is sharing this week’s WCHA defensive player of the week award with Michael Bitzer of Bemidji State.

After a weekend sweep of Michigan State, we doubt Headrick has a problem with splitting the weekly award.

The native of Garden River, Ontario led all NCAA skaters with five assists and six points in the two-game series win over MSU at home this weekend.

He had a pair of three-point nights, leading to his first WCHA weekly award.
