During the IIHF World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend, Compuware and Livonia made a big announcement.

The Compuware Youth Hockey program and the Livonia Hockey Association have created a new girls’ hockey partnership in an effort to promote and grow the girls’ game at different levels of play.

“We feel this to be a good fit for both organizations,” said Mike Henry, youth hockey director of Compuware. “Rather than competing over the players, we want to make it easier for the girls to find a place to play and continue in the game.”

Moving forward, the two organizations will work together to transition their ‘Learn to Skate’ and ‘Learn to Play’ participants to Livonia’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams, and give players on those teams the opportunity to ‘graduate’ to the Compuware girls’ Tier 1 level.

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Compuware and provide an avenue for girls to progress through Tier 2 into Tier 1 hockey,” said Andy O’Brien, president of the Livonia Hockey Association. “Together we will provide a premier destination for girls to play.”
