While five Michigan-based U16 AAA teams will be participating in the USHL’s inaugural Fall Classic West Youth Tournament, the Tier I junior league announced today that some of Michigan’s U14 teams will be playing in another tournament in Pittsburgh.

Three Michigan-based U14 AAA clubs will be competing in the inaugural USHL Fall Classic East Youth Tournament on Sept. 16-18.

“This age group represents the future of USHL hockey, said USHL president and commissioner Bob Fallen. “Elite programs have elite players who will soon have to make choices about their future. Giving these young men and their families access to the Tier 1 on-ice product and having the opportunity to inform them about their options is valuable to the USHL.”

Honeybaked’s 14U AAA team will participate in the Pacioretty Group for the tournament, Meijer will compete in the Gaudreau Group and Belle Tire will skate in the Pavelski Group.

“The U14 Fall Classic offers elite players a first glimpse into what they are working towards,” said USHL director of player development and recruitment Doug Christiansen. “Having 16 of the top teams in the country gives players and teams an opportunity to see where they stack up nationally while playing in front of USHL and NCAA scouts.”
