Original Stix, a Michigan-based company that turns broken hockey sticks into phone cases, has a big-name partner joining the team.

Earlier this week, Original Stix announced a new clothing line with Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser.

The DeKeyser Apparel line, which Original Stix has been creating with the Clay Township native and Western Michigan Broncos alum for months, will be released in September.

“Danny is a hometown favorite with a promising future in the NHL,” said Terry Johnson, Original Stix founder and a Michigan native himself. “As a Detroit-based company, it made perfect sense to partner with somebody who represents the city as well as Danny does.”

DeKeyser, 26, recently signed a six-year extension with his hometown team, keeping him in Hockeytown until the 2021-22 season.

“We’ve been working closely with Danny to design a clothing collection that we feel fans will really get behind,” Johnson told MiHockey. “With DeKeyser’s clothing line, we’re sticking to the same recipe that has made Original Stix apparel such a hit: quality materials, high attention to detail, and 100% made in America. DeKeyser Apparel will be available in September 2016 at originalstix.com and at local Original Stix retailers.”
