Hockey fans will have a new way to watch National Hockey League games this fall.

Twitter announced today that the social media site will be live-streaming weekly out-of-market games for both the NHL and Major League Baseball.

120 Sports, the OTT network, will also be creating an exclusive nightly multi-sport highlight show called ‘The Rally’ which will also be available via Twitter.

Twitter and MLBAM (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, which recently took over operations of the NHL’s digital platforms) recently connected on a new partnership.

“Twitter has become a crucial forum and engagement tool for hockey fans to enhance their NHL viewing experience and stay connected to the game on and off the ice,” said Stephen McArdle, NHL executive vice president of digital media and strategic planning, in a release. “We are excited that fans will now be able to enjoy live NHL games through our partnership with Twitter.”

The games will be available free to logged-in and logged-out Twitter users in the United States. A schedule will be released a later date.

It’s important to note the ‘out-of-market’ label – any Red Wings games airing on Twitter that are already appearing on Fox Sports Detroit or NBC Sports Network will not be available on the social media site for fans living in Michigan.
