The Detroit Red Wings have locked up one of their top scoring prospects.

Announced today, the Original Six franchise and Teemu Pulkkinen have agreed on a new one-year contract, keeping the restricted free agent within the Wings’ organization.

Pulkkinen, 24, played in 36 games with the Red Wings this past season, scoring six goals and six assists for 12 total points.

In 2014-15, he logged 31 games, recording five goals and three assists in the timeframe.

He has been a dominating force for the Griffins during his two seasons in Grand Rapids; in 2013-14, he recorded 31 goals and 28 assists, and in 2014-15, he recorded 34 goals and 27 assists in only 46 games.

In June, the native of Vantaa, Finland, underwent shoulder surgery in his native country to address a nagging injury that stemmed from a dislocated shoulder before he turned pro.

Pulkkinen was one of four significant Red Wings that are restricted free agents this summer; Petr Mrazek, Danny DeKeyser and the already-signed Alexey Marchenko are the others.
