Red Wings’s ‘Farewell Season at The Joe’ home opener set for Oct. 17 vs. Senators

The Detroit Red Wings will begin their home portion of their ‘Farewell Season at The Joe’ 2016-17 season with a game against the Ottawa Senators on Monday, Oct. 17.

The NHL member clubs announced their home opener dates today, with a full NHL schedule slated to release tomorrow.

Detroit will open on the road at Tampa Bay on Thursday, Oct. 13 – it’s safe to assume the Wings will have a road contest over the weekend before their home opener, as well.

It will be the last home opener for the Red Wings at historic Joe Louis Arena, as the team moves to the new Little Caesars Arena for the 2017-18 season.
