Max Jones is now a member of the Anaheim Ducks.

The Rochester native, who just won the Memorial Cup with the London Knights as an OHL rookie forward in 2015-16, was selected No. 24 overall Friday night in Buffalo.

Jones recorded 28 goals and 24 assists for 52 points in 63 games with the Knights this past season. He also racked up 106 penalty minutes and a +30 rating on the season.

“[Jones is a] power forward who is an excellent skater and displays separation speed,” said Dan Marr, NHL Director of Central Scouting, via NHL.com. “[He is a] hard-hitting player who plays the game with an edge. Very good shot with a quick release. Loves to take the puck to the net and has good hands in tight.”

Prior to joining the Knights, Jones played one season with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor; he racked up 112 penalty minutes in 21 USHL contests with the NTDP.

He was ranked No. 14 among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s final draft rankings.

The Ducks are getting a player with a strong hockey pedigree – Jones’ father, Brad, spent four seasons with the University of Michigan before skating in 148 NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers from 1986-92.

Jone’s older brother, Mitch, just concluded his first professional hockey season with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces; the 21-year-old defenseman spent four seasons with the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers from 2011-15.
