Wolverines announce finalized 2016-17 schedule

UPDATE: The Wolverines’ full schedule has been unveiled with today’s Big Ten hockey schedule.

Michigan begins the 2016-17 campaign with an exhibition contest against the University of Windsor on Sunday, Oct. 2.

The Wolverines begin Big Ten play on Dec. 1 at Penn State; Michigan’s first home Big Ten game will be on Dec. 9 against Wisconsin.

Michigan will play rival Michigan State on Friday, Jan. 20 in Ann Arbor; Saturday, Jan. 21 in East Lansing; Friday, Feb. 10 in Detroit; and Saturday, Feb. 11 in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines will also host USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program Under-18 Team on Friday, Nov. 18.

The Big Ten Tournament takes place from March 16-18 at Joe Louis Arena.

It may be a few months away, but it’s never too early to start planning out your hockey schedule for the upcoming season.

The Michigan Wolverines announced their 2016-17 non-conference schedule today, and there are plenty of games worth highlighting on the calendar.

Red Berenson and Co. open on Friday, Oct. 7 with two games against Union College at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines’ first road trip is a short one – Michigan heads to Big Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a road game with Ferris State.

The next weekend, Michigan will host Mel Pearson and the Michigan Tech Huskies for two games at Yost on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22.

Boston University and Lake Superior State come to Ann Arbor in November, before the Wolverines kick off Big Ten play and the Great Lakes Invitational.
