By @MichaelCaples –
Team USA will be playing for a medal at the 2016 IIHF World Championship.
With a 2-1 shootout victory against the Czech Republic Thursday afternoon, the American club has secured a spot in the semifinals, guaranteeing that they will play for at least a bronze medal in the prestigious international tournament.
The U.S. will take on the winner of Sweden vs. Canada in the semifinals – puck drops at 1:15 p.m. ET for that game.
Auston Matthews, a NTDP product and projected first overall pick in this summer’s NHL Draft, scored the deciding goal in the shootout, which you can see below.
