Former Michigan State Spartans forward Brent Darnell has a new job.

College Hockey Inc. announced today that the Detroit Catholic Central and MSU alum is the organization’s new Director of Education.

“I am very excited at the great opportunity I have to be a member of College Hockey Inc.,” Darnell said in a statement. “I look forward to educating families on the many benefits of college hockey. My four years as a student-athlete at Michigan State were the best years of my life and helped mold me into the person I am today.”

He joins Jamie Herrington – a Dartmouth product – as two new staff hires by CHI. Herrington will work a part-time role.

“We are very excited to add two accomplished and enthusiastic former NCAA student-athletes in Brent Darnell and Jamie Herrington,” Snee said. “Brent’s role is really at the heart of everything we do, and his passion for the college hockey experience is infectious. The ability to add a new role for Jamie allows us to bring another talented representative on board and expand upon what our group is able to accomplish.”

Darnell’s former coach – MSU bench boss Tom Anastos – said the Canton native will be a good addition to the CHI staff.

“I have seen first-hand the entrepreneurial spirit that Brent will bring to College Hockey Inc. and his efforts should benefit college hockey as a whole,” Anastos said. “He’s an enthusiastic, well-spoken young man who has a passion for our sport and will convey the many benefits of playing NCAA hockey to College Hockey Inc.’s various audiences.”
