Michael Downing signs with Florida

As first reported by John Buccigross of ESPN and later confirmed by the Wolverines, the Florida Panthers have signed Michigan defenseman Michael Downing.

A fourth-round pick of the Panthers in 2013, Downing just concluded his junior season with the Wolverines, recording 20 points and 66 penalty minutes.

Downing is a Detroit Catholic Central alum, as well as an alum of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.
