The WCHA announced its players of the week today, and it’s a clean sweep for the Bulldogs.

Rightfully so, of course, since Ferris State captured the conference title Saturday in Grand Rapids.

Gerald Mayhew was named the conference’s offensive player of the week, after the Wyandotte native scored the game-winning goal in a penalty shot Saturday night.

Meanwhile, goaltender Darren Smith was named defensive player of the week and rookie of the week after he backstopped the Bulldogs to the Broadmoor Trophy. During the WCHA Final Five, Smith posted a 2-0 record, a .977 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average, after shutting out Michigan Tech in the semifinals and allowing a single goal in the final.
