On Saturday night, Elliotte Friedman reported some big news pertaining to Hockeytown.

During his ‘Headlines’ portion of a Sportsnet broadcast, Friedman reported that the Red Wings and Maple Leafs appear destined to play against each other outdoors once again – this time in Toronto.

Friedman says it is expected that the two Original Six franchises will square off on New Year’s Day in 2017 in Canada’s largest city. The game would be exactly three years after the two clubs played in Ann Arbor in a game that holds the record for attendance for a NHL contest.
